The shade is a straight cylinder in baked-finish metal, capped with a solid wood top — the wood is what keeps it from reading as a plain painted tube, and it is the part you look at when the lamp is off and hanging at eye level. Five colors: green, pink, black, yellow and white. The colored versions are worth considering precisely because the fixture is small; a strong color that would dominate on a large shade reads as an accent at this size. Black and white are the safe choices in a room that already has a lot going on.

The cord is one metre and is shortened during installation. The socket is E27 and takes any standard bulb; no bulb is included, so you pick the output and color temperature. The shade is opaque and narrow, so the light lands in a tight circle straight down — choose a bright enough bulb if you want to read under it.
