Double glass means two shades, one inside the other. The outer bell is tinted glass; a straight inner cylinder holds the bulb. Light passes through both layers before it reaches the room, so it lands softer than a single glass shade and the fixture keeps visible depth when lit instead of reading as a flat coloured shape. A switch on the fixture turns it on and off without a wall switch.

Two shade colours are made. Amber pulls the light towards gold and suits a dining room or a bedroom in the evening. Smoked gray is cooler and more neutral, and sits better in a room with black metal, steel or dark wood in it. You also choose warm light or white light when ordering: amber with warm light is the softest combination, smoked gray with white light the sharpest. It hangs from a 59 in (150 cm) cord that is shortened during installation, so it fits standard and high ceilings alike. The cap and cord mount are dark metal and the socket is E26, the standard US screw fitting, so any household bulb fits. No bulb is included, and a clear filament bulb suits the double glass better than a frosted one because the inner cylinder is meant to be seen through.
