Pendant light, hanging lamp, ceiling lamp. The shade is opal glass with a small brass cap where the cord meets it, and the glass is thick enough that the bulb inside never shows as a point. The whole shade lights up instead, which is why this shape keeps turning up over kitchen islands and dining tables: it puts light on the surface without a bright spot in anyone's eye.

Three shapes are made from the same glass. Flat Tiered is the widest and lowest, 11.8 inches across and 4.7 inches tall, and it spreads light sideways along a counter. Dome is 11 inches across and 7.5 inches tall, a rounder, softer profile for a bedside or a hallway. Wide Tiered is the largest at 12.6 inches across and 7.5 inches tall, and it is the one to choose when the pendant hangs alone over a table and has to hold the room on its own.

It hangs from a cord that is cut to length during installation, so it works on a standard ceiling or a high one, and it mounts to a ceiling box with the supplied plate. The bulb is not included; a warm 2700K LED gives the glow the glass is made for. It suits scandinavian, mid century, japandi and contemporary interiors. Over a dining table, leave about 30 inches between the tabletop and the bottom of the shade.
