The head on this sconce tilts and swivels, which is the whole point of it. Turn it down and it is a reading light over a bed or a chair; turn it up and it washes the wall and lifts the light level in a hallway or stairwell without a ceiling fixture. Most decorative wall lights are fixed in one direction and you live with whatever they were designed to do. This one you aim.

It is deliberately small: the head is a 2.4 inch metal cylinder, 4.7 inches long, on a short arm off a flat round plate. The light source sits recessed behind a flat diffuser inside the open end, so you see a soft disc of light rather than a bright point, and nothing glares at eye level. Warm white in the 2700-3500K range, which is the right colour for a bedroom or a landing; cooler light in those rooms tends to feel like an office. Matt black or brushed gold.

It mounts flat to the wall and wires into an existing wall box, so there is no cord running down the wall and no switch on the fitting itself. It runs on 90-260V and works on US household current. This is an indoor fitting. Two-year warranty. Note that this item ships from our supplier's warehouse in China, so delivery takes longer than our US-stocked lighting; the shipping estimate at checkout reflects that. Beside a bed, mounting the plate about 24 inches above the mattress puts the head at the right height for reading.
